TRANSFERS TO PAXOS
If you
book a ‘Tailor Made’ holiday on Paxos you may prefer to make your own
arrangements for travel between Corfu and Paxos, in which case we can
provide information about the various options. However, a major
advantage of booking a holiday with Travel à la carte is that you can
alternatively take advantage of our experience as a well-established
tour operator on the island and arrange your transfers in advance
through us. This is a real bonus because local circumstances can
sometimes make it difficult for independent travellers to arrange
transfers.
Regular visitors to Paxos will be aware that it is not unusual for
ferries and hydrofoils to be cancelled due to bad weather, particularly
in early and late season. In addition, as the hydrofoils are now fairly old, they have a
tendency to break down rather more than we would like meaning that there
is no service at all, as was the case at the start of the season.
As a well-established tour operator to Paxos, Travel à la carte works
with local operators to provide sea transfers between Corfu and Paxos,
often using the sea taxi service. You can of course book the sea taxi
yourself but it is expensive for families and couples travelling alone,
whereas we are able to organise larger groups and thereby reduce the
cost per person. We are also in a better position to look after you in
the event of other occasional disruption.
An added bonus of arranging your transfers through us, is that you will
not have to wait as long for a taxi to meet you on arrival on Paxos.
This is particularly important as Paxos is a small island, only eight
miles by three, and it has only five taxis. If you do not have a
pre-booked taxi to meet you, you will invariably have a long wait for a
transfer to your accommodation, unless you have booked a hire car for
collection at the port. On the main change-over days you will also, as a
private individual, find it almost impossible to book a taxi to take you
from your accommodation back to the port, as they will all be fully
booked by tour operators.

transportation from Corfu airport to your accommodation on Paxos on
arrival and back to the airport at the end of your holiday

someone to meet you at the airport, arrange your taxi to the port and
give you the hydrofoil tickets for Paxos

someone to meet you on arrival in Paxos, arrange the taxi to your
accommodation or a hire car if you have booked one
●
someone to make all arrangements in Paxos for your return trip to Corfu
airport at the end of your stay
● a
Welcome Pack of necessities when you arrive in Paxos, as usually
supermarkets are closed.
