Beaches of Skiathos

The beaches of Skiathos are undoubtedly one of its most attractive features, the majority having beautiful golden sand.

The most easily accessible of them are off the road south of Skiathos Town, the nearest sandy one being Achladias, which also has a tennis court.

Further along, almost at the southernmost point of the island is charming Vromolimnos beach, reached from the road via an olive grove, while in the south-west corner, at the final destination for buses from Skiathos is crescent-shaped Koukounaries; it is claimed to be the most beautiful beach in Greece, and has various watersports and tavernas on offer.

The north coast is less accessible, but is worth visiting if you prefer the sea to be less tranquil; beaches such as Elias can have dramatic waves. Lalaria, up on the north-east, can only be reached by boat, and has wonderfully smooth and polished pebbles, as well as a large natural arch.

Boats to most beaches leave from the Old Harbour in Skiathos Town.
