VILLA MARIA

Villa Maria is one of a select group of private villas on Paxos which as well as having their own swimming pools enjoy the luxury of large gardens and terraces. The villa thus offers ideal accommodation for parties of up to six people and, because the house is divided into two self-contained apartments, is particularly suited to groups of adults or to families with older children. Each apartment has its own separate terrace and outside seating facilities, as well as its own garden entrance.  

The villa, most conveniently reached from the lane to Zernatika above the house, looks out onto olive groves and stone Paxiot houses at the back, while to the front, from the upper garden and terraces, the sea can be glimpsed through the surrounding trees. On the upper terrace nearest the house is a large teak garden table, with chairs and large umbrella, perfect for comfortable outside dining, and the pool is a few steps from the front door.   

Inside, the upper half of the house is divided into a living/dining room with kitchen corner (with full oven), a double bedroom, a twin room and bathroom (with shower).  Furnished in traditional style, and with a working fireplace, the living room is air-conditioned and has french windows opening onto a balcony with views to the sea.  Beyond the living room both the double bedroom and twin have ceiling fans to keep the temperatures manageable in the heat of the season.  

The smaller apartment below, which is entered from a private enclosed terrace, has a good-sized twin bedroom, again with air-conditioning, a shower room which also houses the  washing machine and a traditionally furnished kitchen-dining room, with electric hobs and a mini-oven.  The living room and bedroom windows open onto the front terrace.  

Villa Maria’s location, between Loggos and Gaios near the village of Fontana, makes a car or cars more or less essential for a relaxed stay at the house, although the taverna at Fontana is reachable on foot in 15 minutes, as are the spectacular cliffs of the west coast. A five minute drive in the car will take you down to the picturesque village of Loggos with its tavernas, supermarkets and boats for hire, while going the other way the road winds through the sleepy village of Fontana with its church and taverna and past the new reservoir and shingle beaches, bringing you to Gaios, the island’s “capital”, in about 10 minutes. Gaios has a wide selection of tavernas, shops and supermarkets and it is from here you can catch the sea taxis across to the crystal clear water and pristine sandy beaches of Anti Paxos.

Nearest Beaches
Villa Maria is in a fairly central position and several beaches are within a 5 minute drive, among them Levrekio (Loggos), Marmari, Kipos, Kipiadi and towards Gaios Kaki Legadi and Kloni Gouli beaches.

Villa Maria is close to the village of Fontana - about 10-15 minutes walk and a bit further down to Loggos.
