THE GREEN DOOR

The French owner
of this delightful little house lovingly restored the property over 15
years ago. Michelle is an interior designer and artist, her style and
personality are reflected throughout. Located in the quiet residential
area of Pitini, just below the ancient windmills, it offers total
privacy, seclusion and the opportunity to share the artefacts and
authentic paraphernalia so carefully collected during her long summer
vacations in Greece.
Only 10 minutes’
walk either to the village (Horio) in one direction or the bus stop to
the harbour (Yialos) in the other and, with only a few steps up to the
road, The Green Door is a very convenient place to stay.
Opening the main
door into a square terrace, one is immediately transported into
Michelle’s world. Pastel-coloured cushions blend with pretty flowers and
dark-leaved cacti. The separate kitchen is fully equipped. Once inside
the main house and into the saloni (living room), the atmosphere is of
peace and tranquillity. French doors open out onto a bougainvillaea-covered
balcony, with a view over the rooftops to the harbour. Above the saloni
is a double sleeping mousandra (balcony). Downstairs from the saloni is
a bedroom with platform-style double bed and small bathroom.
Outside, Michelle
has created a magical sun terrace. A pergola with neutral-coloured drape
and cushions offers complete privacy. A perfect place to enjoy another
view of Yialos.
