A charming example of a typical Greek house in the heart of the Paxiot
community called Zernatika, Country House is tucked away off the beaten
track. This authentic old house has masses of character but has all the
modern amenities you would expect from a holiday villa.
A car is good idea for those staying at Country House, but it’s within
walking distance to the bus which runs several times a day between
Loggos, Lakka and Gaios. The location is popular with walkers with its
many footpaths meandering through olive groves between nearby Fontana
and Loggos. It’s also ideal for sun worshippers who like to go to Kippos
and Kipiadi beaches, or a little further afield to Marmari and Leverchio
beaches. Recently, a nearby taverna with stunning sea views opened up a
few minutes walk away.
The owner takes great care over the garden which is dotted with many
plant pots and urns and has a pretty fig tree beside the path up to the
front door. There is a stone barbecue and pergola with outdoor furniture
providing welcome shade on hot sunny days. Round the corner is the
swimming pool with views over the olive groves towards the distant
hills.
The small living room is homely and welcoming with a polished wooden
floor and white walls. Furnishings are simple with a couple of cream
sofas with floral cushion, pretty fabric curtains at the windows and
attractive flower paintings on the walls.
The 2 bedrooms are also on the ground floor: 1 double and 1 twin,
featuring white wooden ceilings, exposed stone work and traditional
wardrobes and dressing tables. Both have air-conditioning. There is a
shower-room on the ground floor.
The dining room, down the wooden staircase, has a low wooden ceiling and
is separate from the kitchen. The spacious bathroom is located off the
dining room.
The charming country kitchen has an exposed stone wall on one side and
the pale green units give it a light and airy feel.

(On two
floors) Upper Floor: Door leads into living room, 2 bedrooms (1 double,
1 twin) and a shower room; stairs leading down to: dining room, kitchen
and second shower room. Both bedrooms have air-conditioning. Large
gardens with plenty of dining areas, barbecue and small swimming pool.
Facilities
Air-conditioning in both bedrooms (included), barbecue, dishwasher (table
top), hairdryer, microwave, TV, DVD player and CD player.
Nearest Beaches
It is a 20 minute walk to Marmari, Kipos and Kipiadi beaches. Loggos is
a 25 minute walk away.
There are further beaches only a short drive away on the way to Lakka or Gaios.

The Country House is close to the village of Fontana - about 15 minutes walk.

is by far the smallest of the villages on Paxos and is
situated on the road from Gaios to Loggos. It is a
pretty village with no real signs of the 21st century
(or even the 20th), which is one of its main
