The name says it all – only the eye and experience of a talented architect could create a house worthy of such a setting. Evreti is an exquisitely beautiful area and this charming house, a fusion of natural materials that echoes the simple symmetry of the nearby chapel, has become a part of the landscape rather than dominating it. Constructed of cool stone, with a high vaulted ceiling, the open-plan living area with its pale colour scheme provides serene tranquility. Downstairs, French windows open onto stone terraces that in turn lead to the swimming pool just below. The house is located four hundred metres down an unmade track and whilst there is no sea view, a mere three minute walk will take you down a shady, gently sloping path to a small cove with a beach and a breath-taking view of Ithaca. Yet Fiskardo isn’t far away, with its excellent restaurants where you can enjoy good food and wine, whilst indulging in the endlessly fascinating pastime of people-watching.
