WHERE IT IS & TRANSPORT Paxos is the smallest of the Ionian islands and lies about ten miles south of Corfu. The resident population is around 2500, the majority of whom live in the three main harbour villages, with the remainder in the little hamlets scattered about the interior.
The normal way to arrive is by ferry from Corfu and a number of ferries run every day during the holiday season. Ferries also run from Igoumenitsa on the mainland and, during the season, from Parga. Paxos can now also be reached by seaplane from Corfu. Transfers between Corfu and Paxos are of course included for clients on ‘Inclusive Holidays’ but clients on ‘Tailor Made’ holidays can also take advantage of our experience as a well-established tour operator on the island and arrange transfers between Corfu and Paxos in advance through us. This is a real bonus because local circumstances can sometimes make it difficult for independent travellers to arrange transfers. You can find detailed information on the ‘Transfers to Paxos’ page of this website.
And getting around the island... Paxos is small enough to explore quite easily on foot. The island has its own bus service linking the main village of Gaios with the other two harbours of Loggos and Lakka. Except in high season there are relatively few cars and only a handful of taxis. The best way to get around is by motor boat, allowing you to discover the numerous remote beaches of the east coast. The marvellous sandy beaches of Anti-Paxos, the tiny sister island of Paxos, are best and most easily reached by the express sea taxis from Gaios.
